Job Title: Clerical Support – Special Populations

Primary Purpose:
To provide clerical support to the Special Populations Department.


Qualifications:


Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED


Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Customer service oriented
Excellent telephone skills
Proficient skills in typing, word processing, and file maintenance
Ability to communicate responsibly
Computer Skills
Ability to meet deadlines
Patient and calm demeanor with others


Experience:
Previous experience in office environment


Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Verify the accuracy of PEIMS data while processing IEP/ARD/Section 504 documents;
2. Maintain special education data management system for assigned caseload, arrange timely updates, and troubleshoot problems as they occur;
3. Work with the transportation department to ensure student busing needs are met;
4. Provide clerical assistance to case managers and other special education staff, as needed, this includes scheduling of ARDS, maintaining calendars, processing ARD notices, and uploads;
5. Handle dissemination of information to teachers and staff;
6. Prepare reports as needed to ensure compliance;
7. Organize and manage routine work activities as assigned;
8. Maintain strict confidentiality of information;
9. Keep informed of and comply with all state and district policies and procedures concerning primary job functions;
10. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 25 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; occasional districtwide and statewide travel
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
