A substitute nurse must be able to:
- assess and manage health needs of the campus
- be able to function autonomously
- have strong assessment skills
- have LVN/RN license in the state of Texas
- preferably have one year of acute care experience
Substitutes in Midway ISD are required:
- To complete a substitute application
- To provide transcript(s) showing at least 90 hours of completed college work or current professional license.
- To pass a Criminal history/background check and be fingerprinted through TEA’s database
- To complete a Substitute Academy provided by the district before beginning work on a campus. (All teachers and paraprofessional retired from Midway are exempt from attending the academy.)
- To show verification of a TB test within last 12 months
